The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and give His life for the redemption of all" (Mk 10:45)
This Sunday’s Gospel (Mk 10:35-45) flips everything upside down. The world says, "If you want to be great, you need power, influence, and people serving you." But Jesus brings a totally different message. He tells us that in God’s Kingdom, greatness isn’t about being at the top. It’s about getting low, serving others, and putting them first.
In the world’s logic, success often looks like climbing the ladder, being recognized, and making sure others know you're in charge. But in the Kingdom of God, Jesus shows us that true greatness is found in humility and selflessness. Instead of looking for ways to be served, we’re called to serve.
Jesus didn’t come to earth for fame or glory—He came to give everything, even His life, for others. And He invites us to do the same. Following Him means embracing His way of life: love, sacrifice, and service. It’s about flipping the script and realizing that, in God’s eyes, greatness comes from how much we give, not how much we get.
In those moments when we feel invisible to others or when our truth is rejected, God is right at the center of it all, working within our hearts. He begins with the first act of service—healing and guiding our hearts to keep loving. God calls us to serve, even when the world doesn’t see or understand, because He sees, and He’s the one shaping us into something greater. True greatness starts there.
